humanrights abuses against Tamils in Srilanka and assisting Tamil asylumseekers in their asylum procedure. We organized various campaigns,meetings and cultural events in the past. Now we mainly focus on worse humanrights situation in Srilanka and forced repatriation of Tamil refugees from western countries. The war in Srilanka between

the Sinhala chauvinist government forces and

LTTE(Tamil Tigers) guerillas has produced over half million refugees, about 5,000 of them arrived in The Netherlands. The Tamil Refugee International(TRIN) estimates that over 20,000 Srilankan are stranded in over 12 countries in Asia,Africa and East-Europe. The Dutch 'asylum policy'or refugee-politics is politicaly motivated. The Immigration and Naturalization service(IND) which is responsible for refugees, let the refugees to suffer in refugee camps for years. Some refugees are detained in special prisons. The long periods of detention and the depression as a result,pushes asylum seekers in to the metal despair. Some 15 Tamil refugees who arrived at Shiphol airport,were detained for more than two weeks without any reason. Their only offence was that they asked asylum in Holland. Tamil refugees from Srilanka are usually treated as unwanted people. Because of the good business relationship and economic interests between Srilankan regime and Dutch government,Tamil victims of racist war are not welcome in Holland. Colombo 'safe' for Tamils!The Dutch government carry out stricter asylum procedures to curb Tamil asylumseekers. The situation in Srilanka remains dangerous for Tamils with continuing LTTE threat to capital. The government troups suspect every Tamil who lives in Colombo as a member of LTTE. Even the president of Srilanka Chandrika Kumarathunga admited in an interview with a newspaper that innocent Tamils detained by Police for ransom. 600 Tamils who "disappeared" in Srilanka after their arrest by "Security" forces in the past 18 months have died as a result of torture,or been deliberately killed in detaintion,says Amnesty International. The human rights situation in Srilanka has been among the worst in the Asia. Despite these obvious injustices and genocide,the world remains inactive. The situation there is desolate. The western countries support the war against Tamils by providing socalled financial help. In fact these socalled financialhelp is not spent in development projects,but to buy weapons to kill Tamils. It is surprising that the Western countries never condemn the worse human rights record of Srilankan regime. The U.S. government sends arms and ammunition to Srilanka which kill innocent Tamil civilians. The anti-guerilla unit of American Army "Green Barets" is now training the Srilankan forces. The Srilankan Tamil parties fear that the U.S. will expand its military assistance to Srilanka thereby aggravating conflict. The national liberation struggle of Tamil Tigers has reached it's crucial phase. There are many areas under their control and the "Tamileelam civil administration" was established in these areas. The rest of our Tamil homeland is still occupied by the the government troups.
